The world of Avorah is more than just a fantasy setting.
It's a parallel dimension. A sister world, if you will, to our own Modern
Earth™. There are connections all over, like veins in the vast heart of
existence. Doors, windows, portals, mirrors, whatever you might want to call
them. They're out there.
The Ploutonion at Hierapolis? Yup. Portal. The City of
Ghosts in China? Mm-hm. There's one there, too. The Bermuda Triangle? Oh, God,
yes.
You get the idea. They all lead to Avorah.
There's more to this connection, though, then just a bunch
of portals that sound like they probably came straight out of a Japanese RPG
from the 90's that is the Best Game Ever And Don't Argue With Me About It, YouWill Lose.
Ahem.
There's a spiritual connection, too. A cosmological. See,
Avorah runs in cycles. The world itself reincarnates. Father God has a plan for
His creations. Once Avorah reaches a certain state of sociological,
technological, theological, or equally theoretical advancement, it begins anew.
There are countless theories as to why God chooses to hit the cosmic restart
button, but no one knows what He is waiting for.
What a select few people from Modern Earth™ know, however,
is that there are repercussions for when this happens, and not just for the
Avorans. Whenever the Apocalypse comes and goes, and the concept of life itself
on that plane is wiped out and re-imagined, there is a ripple effect that meets
us here.
Noah's flood, the destruction of Atlantis, the Spanish Flu
Pandemic.
Again. You get the idea.
There are groups of people—some say cults—on earth who know
all there is to know about Avorah and its connection to us, and they seek to
make all that they can of it. Right now, they are in a recruiting frenzy.
One such group, called Trés Escudos, operates primarily out
of the United States, in central California. This group has a theory: the next
time Father God sets his wheels in motion, the ripple won't cause an upturn in
disease, or a tsunami, or deadly political riots.
It will cause the complete eruption of Yellowstone National
Park, and spell an end to humanity on two worlds.
Unless, of course, something can be done about it.
